Iceland’s Oscar submission, Life in a Fishbowl, took the top prize (The NDR Film Prize) at The Lübeck Nordic Film Days on November 2nd. In making its selection, the jury noted that “The originality and mastery of the cast is what really makes this film stand out. The actors give us an enthralling portrayal of deep humanity in the face of a cold, uncaring society. The dramatic arc of images, with its novelistic quality, charts in an unusual and gripping way a cross-section of lives”.
The NDR Film Prize for Best Feature Film in competition, endowed with 12,500 euros, has been awarded annually since 1990 for a “feature film of special artistic quality.” The film should “reflect society in an independent creative language and open up new perspectives in terms of content and aesthetics.”
