Set in the stark Icelandic landscape and inspired by the true story of an infamous Icelandic murder case from 1974. Iceland in the 1970s was a a bucolic country of farmers and fishermen, pretty much cut off from the much of the rest of the world. Crime was rare, murder rarer still. Then two men disappear under suspicious circumstances and foul play is suspected. The country demands a resolution. Police launch the biggest criminal investigation Iceland has seen. Finally, six people confess to two violent murders and are sent to prison. The nightmare is seemingly over. But it was far from over. Incredibly, this infamous murder case is still being tried, debated and re-examined today. This is a taut psychological thriller with false confessions, wrongful convictions and an exploration of the most intense criminal investigation in Iceland’s history.
